Do have a passion and a commitment to raise the profile of science in your school?

Do you have a role in leading science across the infant, junior or primary school?

If so the Science subject leader network will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Keep up to date with new initiatives in science education,
  • share ideas and good practice with other science subject leaders,
  • reflect on what is already going on in your school and find ways of moving your school forward.

Whole day sessions will take place, once every term and will build on a programme started last year, however newcomers are welcome.

The first session in the autumn term 2016 will focus on how to capture what children can do in science and developing an evidence base, including:

  • recording and evidencing scientific investigations;
  • moderation and standardisation of science evidence;
  • developing a school portfolio, building on the 2016 Teacher Assessment Exemplification.

Future content will be discussed and could include:

  • ways of finding out about what is going on in your school;
  • progression of skills and content across the whole school;
  • selecting and managing resources including ICT;
  • knowing the law including health and safety requirements.
